Woman in coma after shooting self
A 77-year-old woman was in a coma Wednesday at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, a day after she took a cab to Colonial Oaks Park and shot herself in the head.
A relative said Jery M. Kelso had been depressed since her companion of 40 years died in March. The relative said she didn't know why Kelso chose the park.
Kelso, 4500 block Iola Drive, had been reported missing at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.
At 6:10 p.m., passersby found her in the park.
